In brief :

It exist a culture and medicinal practice Kanak, Wallisians dances and songs, Tahitian jewellery and stories, Vietnamese cuisine and art, Javanese religion and rituals, literature and architecture Franco-European. The whole is what we call the Caledonian culture.
The Kaneka music that has its roots in the "Pilou" rhythm of tribal ceremonies, evolved into reggae melodies grace to the many local groups. A principal place is given to the Tahitian dance, and more and more to the jazz and rock music with the emergence of new musical groups. Crafts such as basketry, and the arts such as sculpture, the dance, theatre and literature are all artistic expressions that can be encountered at the frequent festivals, fairs and markets.
